ABOUT THE TURBOCHARGERS

Possibility to apply turbocharger can be found nearly in case of every internal-combustion engine, whether liquid-cooled or air-cooled, petrol or diesel engine. Turbo-charging utilizes the energies of the engine’s exhaust gases. Using the energy of the high-speed combustion products exhausting from the engine through the exhaust manifold the turbine of the turbocharger drives the compressor fit on the same axle with bearings which draws the fresh charge and pushes it into the cylinder with excess pressure. Although the turbocharger is not connected to the engine’s rotors – because of the turbine –, the increased upacting pressure in the exhaust manifold appears as resistance and reacts on the engine’s operation and performance.

THE MODERN TURBO ALSO NEEDS TO BE CARED OF 

The turbocharger is more and more frequent. Diesels hardly cannot be imagined without it and now not only the high-power sport models but parts of the types of the mass producers at accessible price, with small cubic capacity are also driven by petrol engine charged with turbochargers. We have checked how long the modern turbo engines can serve in a reliable way.
In the previous months more and more test cars equipped with small turbo-engine came to us and it also happened that only such cars waited in the car park for us to get acquainted with them better. It, however, would have been impossible to compare them since there was among them fashionable mini car, sporty and practical compact, family and elegant middle-category limousine as well. The turbocharger has become such a common thing that it is not worth even a Turbo label, costing some Euro cents, for most of the manufacturers to draw attention to the technique.
